Private jet to Mykonos
Mykonos is one of the most luxurious summer destinations in Europe. Between June and September in particular the island becomes a playground for the elite who are looking for chic beach bars to relax by during the day and exclusive restaurant and clubbing experiences at night. Whether it is a 5* hotel or fully serviced villa, or a superyacht anchored in the crystal-clear blue waters, Mykonos is the place to be seen.
Demand for private jets to Mykonos explodes in the peak summer months. At that time passenger numbers go from a mere 5,000 a month to a whopping 200,000 a month. The Island transforms into one of the most popular private jet destinations almost literally overnight!
The island itself is tiny and the airport is small with just one runway to serve all flights inbound and outbound. This highly seasonal travelling causes demand in the busy summer months to exceed the supply of landing and take-off slots and space for aircraft parking. In some of the worst cases we have known requests for a departure time of 11am to be met with an offer of 6pm. It is vital to be aware of this. Passengers have turned up late at the airport and have had to sit on the ground for two hours or more waiting for the next available departure slot.
None of this should put you off chartering a jet to one of the Mediterranean’s most exciting destinations! But our EchoJet air charter brokers advise booking a private jet to Mykonos at least a month in advance. Alternatively, for those last-minute bookings or even just as a precaution on particularly busy weekends of the summer you could try booking a private jet to Athens and then take a helicopter transfer over to the island.
